Jeil Church

It is the former prayer hall of Daegu Jeil Church, which is designated as Tangible Cultural Property No. 30 of Daegu Metropolitan City. After the construction of a new prayer hall in 1997, the old building has been renovated into a memorial hall. Daegu Jeil Church was established as Namseongjeong Church, which is the first Christian church in the Gyeongbuk region, in 1898. The church first began as a small tile-roofed house where a small number of people gathered for prayers. As the church grew bigger, a one-story building was constructed in 1909. And in 1933, the Church Building made of brick was built in 1933. The bell tower was built in 1937, completing the current shape of the church. The build’s ivy-covered walls create stunning scenery with the blue sky in summer. The building is also a valuable record in modern architectural research as it well demonstrates the gothic architecture of the modern period.

Interior of Jeil Church is opened to public on Saturdays and Sundays.
